At a time when people are doing everything they can to keep contact as little as possible, news has surfaced that a woman in the United States has been arrested for licking grocery.
The incident occurred in the US state of California. The woman, identified as Jennifer Walker, has reportedly licked $ 1,800 (PKR 288,000) worth of food and other items in a supermarket in the north of the state, the police said on Wednesday.
South Lake Tahoe Police Department spokesman Chris Fiore told the news agency that officials were being called to the Safeway store on Tuesday after it was reported that “a customer was licking food during the highly contagious corona virus outbreak”.
“When the officers arrived, a Safeway staff member informed them that the suspect had put numerous jewelry items from the shop on her hands,” Fiore was quoted as saying.
“The suspect licked the jewelry and then started loading her car with goods from the store,” he added.
According to an Economic Times report, officials found Walker in the store with a shopping cart full of items, including meat and alcohol, that she couldn’t buy
The 53-year-old was arrested for vandalism and the goods had to be destroyed for fear of contamination.
