More than 240 flights at Midway Airport in Chicago were canceled after several air traffic control tower technicians tested positive for coronavirus.
At least three workers tested positive for the virus, which has now affected over 200,000 people worldwide. The airport tweeted that it would continue to operate “one-in-one-out” due to multiple backups.
“The air traffic control tower at Midway Airport will be temporarily closed while we ensure a safe work environment for air traffic controllers and technicians,” the FAA said in a statement on Wednesday.
On Wednesday morning, the airport stated in a separate post that it was open, but flight operations remain limited.
