The South Delhi Municipal Corporation sanitized Nizamuddin Markaz and the surrounding area on Wednesday after a religious gathering held earlier this month that violated the restrictions. Several corona virus positive cases were found among the participants.
Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz was evacuated and quarantined by the authorities since 37 cases of positive coronavirus were found by late Tuesday night.
According to sources, a total of 2100 people were evacuated from the Markaz by Wednesday morning and symptomatic patients transferred to hospitals by early morning.
Approximately 441 people from the center are tested on Covid-19, and another 1,447 people were quarantined after the building was evacuated by health officials and local police.
The infections spread when around 2,100 Muslim followers, including some from Indonesia and Malaysia, attended a meeting in the Markaz of Tablighi Jamaat in New Delhi’s densely populated Nizamuddin area in mid-March.
