PIA has spoken about direct flights to the U.S. and is now planning to take off from Islamabad twice a week, probably with its 15-year-old 777-200LRs that already operate 5 weekly flights to Toronto, and those additional two flights will really get them there their limits.
Instead of two miserable flights a week to New York, where the crew stays in a hotel for 3-4 nights, we are informed two years later that PIA has lost 2 billion rupees on the New York route.
Well, there are other options. British Airways has a huge network in the United States, but 15 to 20 cities are served almost daily. Then American and Delta, which have many large hubs in the United States and serve hundreds of smaller cities.
Perhaps PIA should increase its London frequency to 14 or even 21 a week and share the US code from London Heathrow to offer its customers a broad base of BA, Delta, or Americans from London instead of two miserable flights to New York.
