A Pakistani Air Force F-16 plane crashed in Islamabad during rehearsals for the March 23 parade, a force spokesman said on Wednesday.

According to a PAF spokesperson, Wing Commander Noman Akram martyred in the incident.

Rescue teams were dispatched to the accident site, he said.

A commission of inquiry was ordered by Air headquarters to determine the cause of the crash, the statement said.

“The Pakistan Air Force reports with regret that a PAF F-16 plane crashed near Shakarparian, Islamabad during rehearsals for the March 23 parade,” the statement said.
