PIA higher management and staff slash salaries as corona virus hurts airline’s business

The senior executives of the PIA including CEO are also feeling the heat of the lack of business these days as flights have been suspended in the country and citizens are quarantining themselves.

The corona virus has affected businesses around the world, and airlines are no exception. The pandemic has claimed more than 26,000 deaths worldwide and affected more than half a million people.

Given the above circumstances, the CEO of the national airline announced a 20% cut in his salary. Department heads also cut their salaries by 20%, while managers decided to cut their salaries by 15%.

The deputy managers have decided to cut their salaries by 10% and managers by 8%. The airline’s spokesman said the management’s decision was aimed at providing some cushion to the airline during the financial crisis it was going through due to the outbreak of the corona virus.
