The UAE temporarily suspended the issuance of all entry visas except diplomatic passport holders on Saturday. This applies from March 17th.
The decision does not apply to people who have already received a visa before the effective date.
In a statement released today, the federal agency for identity and citizenship announced that the move was taken as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of the coronavirus and that the World Health Organization has declared the outbreak of the novel coronavirus a pandemic – which makes travel dangerous at this point .
The agency added that the decision will be effective until the departure countries activate a medical check-up mechanism for passengers as an additional measure.
It has been confirmed that the decision results from the UAE’s sense of responsibility to fight the deadly virus and is in solidarity with the countries of the world.
