Singapore City

Singapore, a city-state located at the southern tip of the Malaysian peninsula, about 137 kilometers north of the equator. It consists of the island of Singapore in the shape of a diamond and around sixty small islets; the main island occupies all but about 18 square miles of this combined area. The main island is separated from Peninsular Malaysia in the north by the Strait of Johor, a narrow channel crossed by a causeway and a causeway more than 500 meters long. The southern limits of the state cross the Strait of Singapore, where the outliers of the Riau-Lingga Archipelago – which is part of Indonesia – extend up to 10 miles from the main island.
